The book reveals the entire history of Jews living in the state with the artistic images taken by the photographer over the period of time. In this book the author describes the details of old store and businesses owned by Jews.

About The Author: Penny Wolin has been honored to photograph such great American icons as Annie Leibovitz, George Burns, Ansel Adams, and The Band. Wolin's seminal book and exhibition, "The Jews of Wyoming: Fringe of the Diaspora" was hailed by Library Journal as "a unique and important contribution to our understanding of Jewish life in the United States." Her new work, "Descendants of Light: American Photographers of Jewish Ancestry" has been praised to have "drawn out connections that shed light upon the full spectrum of Jewish civilization," by esteemed Posen Foundation scholar, David Biale. Wolin is the recipient of two grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and one from the National Endowment for the Arts. She has exhibited solo at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. Her work is held in such institutions as the Smithsonian Institution, the New York Public Library, the Santa Barbara Art Museum and the Wyoming State Museum. Wolin received an undergraduate degree from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, studied visual anthropology in the graduate program at the University of California, Los Angeles, and was awarded a directing fellowship to the American Film Institute, Los Angeles. Wolin's commercial clients include Y&R Advertising, Hasselblad, Condé-Nast magazines and Peter Michael Winery. She divides her time among the north and south of California, New York and Wyoming. She shares a small farm in Sebastopol with multiple chickens, one not-very-feral rescue cat and an extremely witty and loyal poodle named Gotham.
