We are happy to announce a major firmware update for the Leica SL3 and Leica Q3 cameras (4.0.0), and firmware version 1.7.0 for the Leica D-Lux 8.
Top 4 New Features of Firmware 4.0.0
- Substantially more accurate and reliable autofocus tracking, using updated machine learning algorithms: Eye/face detection and subject tracking are more dependable then ever, with faster recognition when a subject leaves and re-enters the frame. In addition, animal detection is no longer in beta, with support for a larger variety of animals.
- Cold start up time reduced by 40% & Wake Up time now less than 1 second: Q3 and SL3 cameras can now initialize a full camera startup in 2.6 seconds.
- SL3 cameras now support Frame.io, video proxy files and anamorphic video de-squeezing: Creators may now upload their JPG, DNG and video proxy files to a Frame.io server when the camera is connected to a wireless network, allowing for real time and intercontinental collaboration. In addition, when using anamorphic lenses, the SL3 cameras can now de-squeeze distorted images during playback.
- Leica Q3 and Q3 43 cameras now support the new Leica UI, originally introduced with the Leica SL3.

WHAT'S NEW
- Fully compliant with Article 3.3 of the EU Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU)
- Improved WLAN security: When the camera is reset, a new randomly generated WLAN password is automatically assigned. The password display in the WiFi menu is replaced with ****.
- Bluetooth: Encrypted Bluetooth communication. As part of the security up- date, the device must be paired again.
- ERROR CORRECTION
- Bugfixes in the firmware.
