January 21, 2019  |  by Samy's Camera
Samy's Camera, once again, attended this year's CES, the largest consumer technology expo in the world. With over 4,500 exhibiting companies, you never know what you are going to see and discover inside the Las Vegas Convention Center. There are self-driving cars, robots and everything in between. When it comes to digital imaging a CES, many of the industry's trusted brands, like Canon, Panasonic, Polaroid, and Sony, are in attendance. However, one booth always seems to stand out to us every year: Nikon. Allow us to count the ways...

But even with all the latest Nikon gear to play with, the company had more up their sleeves. During the first days of CES, Nikon made an announcement that caused quite the buzz among videographers. [caption id="attachment_6292" align="alignnone" width="1005"] Shot with the Nikon Z7[/caption] [caption id="attachment_6290" align="alignnone" width="960"] Source: https://bit.ly/2MkB6sN[/caption] According to Nikon, the Nikon Z6 Filmmaker's Kit,  created for aspiring videographers, has been assembled with the essential tools for making the most of the Z 6's video recording capabilities. Adaptability. It's about remaining fluid, open. Preparing for nothing, but being ready for anything. Thriving in whatever situation comes along. The Nikon Z6 Mirrorless Digital Camera is perhaps the most adaptable camera we've ever created. It's at the sweet spot of speed, resolution and low-light performance. All combined with the advantages of a lightweight mirrorless design, a revolutionary new full-frame lens mount with matched lenses and seamless integration with Nikon's DSLR system-including the F-Mount NIKKOR lenses you love. This is mirrorless versatility as only Nikon could create. Included in this kit:
  • FX-format Z 6 mirrorless camera
  • NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/4 S zoom lens
  • FTZ Mount Adapter
  • spare EN-EL15b lithium-ion battery
  • access to the Nikon School Online Class: The Art of Making Music Videos
  • Atomos Ninja V 5" 4K HDMI recording monitor
  • Moza Air 2 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer
  • Rode VideoMic Pro Plus
  • 1-year subscription to Vimeo Pro
Furthermore, Nikon revealed that future firmware updates aim to empower consumers technically and creatively. The Nikon Z series will continue to adapt to changing user needs through the development and roll-out of firmware updates to meet and exceed creative expectations. Taking into account feedback from photographers and creators, Nikon will display three feature updates under development that open creative opportunities for the Z 6 and Z 7. Displays will include:
  • CFexpress - Coming soon to the Z 6 and Z 7 cameras is support for CFexpress, which is compatible with the XQD memory card form-factor.
  • Eye AF - Under development is an Eye AF function, which will automatically detect the subject’s eyes to make attaining critical focus on the eyes easier. It will allow users to capture photos in which focus has been clearly acquired on the subject's eye, which is useful for portrait, event and street photography scenarios.
  • RAW Video Support - Nikon is currently developing a feature that works with the ATOMOS Ninja V to output video in RAW format, using the ProRes RAW codec.
With all that said, we have one last question - who's coming to CES 2020? [caption id="attachment_6273" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Shot with the Nikon Z7[/caption] Pre-Order the Nikon z6 Filmmaker Kit Shop the Nikon Z Series Shop our Nikon Store
