The Ikelite Underwater Housing for Canon EOS 70D Digital Camera is a seamless blend of functionality, lighting integration, durability and waterproof integrity. Other housings simply waterproof your camera. An Ikelite TTL housing improves your photos. TTL or "Through-The-Lens" flash metering means the camera controls flash duration to properly expose an image. Our built-in proprietary circuitry tells your camera that a TTL external flash is attached, allowing the camera to adjust exposure more accurately than with slave TTL strobes.

Fiber optic slave flash units require the camera's flash to fire every time. This creates a shutter lag as you wait for the camera's flash to recycle in between shots, drains your camera's battery life, and builds up heat inside of the housing. Ikelite electronics translate direct electrical impulses from your camera, triggering your strobe and precisely adjusting its power without the need to fire the camera's flash. This eliminates the slave TTL strobe issues of signal interference, inconsistent exposure due to weak fiber optic transmission and false triggering caused by light rays bouncing off the water's surface or your buddy's flash going off.

Exposure adjustments directly through the back of the housing put the perfect shot within reach every time. Tweak your TTL exposure or take total manual control without taking your hand off of your housing. Controls on the back of the housing acts as a remote control for compatible Ikelite DS-series strobes. Access plus/minus exposure compensation in TTL mode, plus manual power settings in half-stop increments.

An over-sized knob smoothly engages our unique system of universal zoom gears. We provide two zoom sets with each housing, one for use with most popular larger diameter zoom lenses and a second designed for use with smaller diameter zoom lenses. Both sets are lightweight and easy to install with no modification to the lens required. A variety of dome and flat ports attach with four locking latches for maximum security and quick changes between dives. This housing includes a balanced aluminum tray with our signature quick release handles for easy attachment and removal of external lighting. An aluminum 1/4-20 threaded top mount provides an additional attachment point for lightweight accessories.

Special polycarbonate blends allow us to create an extremely strong yet clear and lightweight enclosure. We believe there's no substitute for inspecting the actual o-ring seal once your housing is closed. Our signature clear construction lets you see that the housing is watertight and dry before you enter the water, and provides full view of the camera while you're diving. Polycarbonate is fundamentally corrosion-resistant for easy maintenance year after year. Like every Ikelite product, our housings are designed, built, and tested in the USA. We use locally sourced, top-grade materials. Our housings are built by hand and individually tested for fit, function and waterproof integrity. The average assembly technician is a certified scuba diver and has over 16 years of experience building Ikelite products. We back our products with over 50 years of experience and the most accessible and responsive customer service staff in the dive industry. This housing requires the addition of a compatible lens port for waterproof operation. Lens port not included.

  • Controls:Provides access to all important camera functions via mechanical controls. Dioptric adjustment knob, flash pop-up button, multi-function lock switch and depth-of-field preview button are inaccessible. All controls are located within comfortable reach. Video record start/stop and AF lock are positioned on the side for quick access using your thumb, without taking a hand off the grip
  • Construction:Designed and made in the USA from durable, corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, which is clear to enable you to monitor the O-ring seal and maintain a full view of the camera.
  • Lens Port:A lens port is required and sold separately. The housing is compatible with various flat and dome ports for macro, zoom and wide-angle lenses. Each features four locking latches for maximum security and quick changes between dives. Additionally, an over-sized knob smoothly engages Ikelite lens zoom gears, two sets of which are included with this housing. The first set is designed for most popular large-diameter zoom lenses, while the second is made for those with smaller diameters. Both sets are lightweight and easy to install with no modification to the lens required.
  • Compatible Lens Ports:Accepts Modular 8" and Standard 6" Dome, and Modular and Standard Flat ports, with various bodies for lenses
  • TTL Flash Metering with Optional External Strobes:Configured with an Ikelite Digital ICS-5 5-pin electrical bulkhead for the connection of an optional external flash or strobe via cables, which are available separately. Current Ikelite DS Substrobe models (as of September 2013) will allow for TTL flash metering, while non-Ikelite strobes offer manual exposure only. Built-in, proprietary circuitry tells your camera that an optional TTL external flash is attached, allowing the camera to use TTL metering to adjust exposure more accurately. The camera's built-in pop-up flash does not need to fire. Exposure adjustments can be made easily at the back of the housing, and you can benefit from complete manual control. Two buttons below the camera's LCD viewfinder act as a remote control for Ikelite DS-series strobes. Access exposure compensation in TTL mode, in addition to 7 manual power settings in half-stop increments. Strobe settings are indicated by LED lights and plainly visible even in low light
  • Handling:A supplied aluminum tray with dual rubberized grip handles improves handling and balance underwater, while providing quick-release attachment points for strobe, flash and video light arms. Additionally, the tray is configured with a tripod mount. The complete assembly can be attached and removed with ease, connecting to the housing with just 2 screws
  • Recommended Optional Accessories:The DS161 Substrobe offers bright, even coverage at a 90° beam angle and a color temperature of 4800K, and also features a built-in, 500-lumen video light. Attach this and other strobes to the housing via the available sync cord and strobe arm kit. The lightweight Gamma LED focus/video light outputs over 220 lumens at a 10° beam angle, and burns for up to 10 hr. Additionally, extra O-rings and silicone lubricant can be purchased
