The Sekonic L-758CINE-U DigitalMaster Light Meter features numerous dedicated Cine modes to meet the needs of cinematographers and videographers. The Lightmeter can perform either incident or spot metering of ambient and flash lighting with the same efficiency. The incident metering is attained with a lumisphere on a rotating head and is also retractable for accurate contrast readings. The L-758CINE-U has a wide measuring range of -2 to 22.9 EV at ISO 100, as well as a flash range of f/0.5 to f/161.2. The main advantage of this meter is the ability to be programmed with exposure profiles in order to match the dynamic range of your specific camera. It has the capability to memorize and display up to nine readings on the screen, and once programmed the meter will show the latitude of your camera during measurements. It can compare the standard mid tone and taken measurements using the contrast Function. It also features to measure both ambient and flash in the scene, with a percentage of how much flash is used, allowing you find the relationship between the two to balance the exposure as desired. This meter has a large backlit LCD and an all-weather construction. The Sekonic L-758CINE-U DigitalMaster is the ultimate light-measuring tool for cinematographers and videographers as well as digital still shooters. Offering the most extensive range of fps (frames-per-second), cine shutter speeds, and shutter angle settings, it meets and exceeds the demands of Professional Cinematographers and Professional Still Photographers. The key to precise lighting and great exposures is understanding the dynamic range of your camera and calibrating your meter to work with it. Long a time-consuming necessity, Sekonic has automated the process to one that takes just minutes.

The dedicated cine measuring tools include an extensive range of frame rates and shutter angles as well as luminance and brightness measurements. It has Lumisphere receptor head that rotates 90 degrees right while 180 degrees left and retracts for conversion to a flat diffuser. The 1 degree spot meter with viewfinder equipped with full display measuring range of -2 to 22.9 EV for incident readings and 1 to 24.4 EV for reflected readings. The flash measuring range of f/0.5 to f/161.2 for incident readings and f/2 to f/161.2 for reflected readings and shutter angle settings of 1-10° in 1° steps, 15-270° in 5° steps, plus 12°, 17°, 22°, 144°, 172°, and 180°. The meter has ISO range of 3-8,000 in 1/3 steps and flash can be measured with PC sync terminal connection, cordless, or radio triggering (optional RT-32 module required). The functions includes exposure profile, mid tone function, exposure compensation, multiple cumulative function, memory/clear/recall function, average function, contrast function, auto power off.

  • Optional Radio Flash Triggering: Simply plug the optional Sekonic RT-32 Transmitter Module into the battery compartment and wirelessly trigger flash units up to 100 feet away. The transmitter offers 32 digital coded channels and Quad-Triggering Zones and is compatible with PocketWizard radio triggering systems, as well as the PocketWizard Wireless Freedom partners.
  • All-Weather Design: All buttons, switches and compartments are sealed and the meter housing has been designed to endure rugged outdoor conditions. Ideal for location shooting, in rainy or humid environments.
  • Dual ISO Settings: Dual ISO buttons enable quick adjustment of exposure when working with two ISO speeds and making adjustments for filter compensation or calling up one of seven commonly used Wratten filter factors.
  • Reflected Light Spot Metering: Establishing scene brightness has never been this simple. Spot meter a highlight.Area and press the AVE/EV button. Then measure the shadows to instantly see the difference in scene brightness without ever taking your eye from the viewfinder. Press the memory button to compute an averaged mid-tone and display all three readings on the dynamic range line of the L-758CINE-U's analog display. This quick and easy method gives you all the information you need to make every exposure decision.
  • Incident Light Metering: Measure the key light and press the AVE/EV button. Press the measuring button to read the fill light and the digital display instantly switches to EV to show the brightness difference with tenth-stop accuracy.
  • Contrast Function: The contrast function switches the data displays to a simple, direct EV readout to enable measuring scene brightness and create lighting ratios faster than ever before.
  • Memory Mode and Latitude Display: Up to nine readings can be memorized in incident or spot metering modes. An indicator appears on the analog display each time a measurement is memorized and the total number of memorized measurements appears numerically on the screen.Memorized readings are retained when switching between reading modes. This provides a fast and simple way of retaining and analyzing shadow, mid tone and highlight exposure readings. Digital readings can be recalled and/or cleared at anytime for precise exposure control. The dynamic range of your digital camera or film can be programmed into the L-758CINE-U to create a Latitude Display that mirrors the range of your system. This important guide will let you know when readings fit within the latitude of your system and when they are outside the range.
  • Full information Spot Viewfinder: The 1-degree spot meter has a broad reading range from EV 1 to EV 24.4 (0.07 to 190,000 FL). Its large, bright viewfinder with diopter correction and full information data display give you everything you need to make the right exposure decisions without having to take your eye from the eyepiece.
  • Programming Meter: Switch OFF L-758CINE-U. Connect it to the computer with USB cable and switch L-758Cine ON. Select up to three camera profiles. Press transfer. Switch OFF L-758Cine, disconnect, and switch ON to begin using.
  • Entering Data: Download test images into computer. If shot in RAW, convert to TIFF or JPEG for computation. Use Normal mode for cameras using shutter speed settings or "Cine" for cameras using frames per second and shutter angle. Enter ISO, incident, and reflected light shooting data. Then select and align images for processing and press OK to watch the Sekonic Data Transfer Software program graph the dynamic range of your HDSLR, Cine-Video camera.
