The C90 first appeared in the 1970s as the smallest of Celestron's catadioptric telescope which can be used for astronomical viewing and as a spotting scope and for nature photography since it can make close-up observations from a safe distance.the C90 is the most time-tested Maksutov design in production in the US. The extremely compact design immediately lent itself to use as a telephoto lens as well as a telescope.
