Web Pricing - Why are the prices on this web site different from those in your stores?
Our stores are staffed with a wide variety of product specialists and support staff, each of whom make an effort to be responsive and pleasant to deal with. We're also able to provide a customer with any item from our inventory to inspect and test. The cost of this customer service is an increased overhead for our in-store prices, to pay for the store space, the training of our employees, and other considerations not present online. We're happy to offer reduced prices online and hope that you will be satisfied with your purchase no matter where you decide to buy.
The Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 APO DG HSM Lens with Sony A Mount is for Digital SLR cameras with a Sony A lens mount. It is an ultra-telephoto zoom lens ideal for nature, wildlife, or sports photography. This lens is designed for full-frame cameras and is also compatible with APS-C format DSLRs. The zoom range translates into the approximate focal length equivalence of 225-750mm when used with APS-C cameras.
A Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) enables fast, smooth and quiet auto focus and its rear focus system prevents focus-dependent variation in aberration, provides quick, convenient manual focus and a non-rotating, non-extending front barrel during focus. Its APO apochromatic design with three Special Low Dispersion glass elements virtually eliminate chromatic aberrations and the DG-system and Super Multi-Layer coated optics reduce flare and ghosting.
For such a long telephoto zoom lens, this is a compact and lightweight option with an included rotating tripod collar. It is compatible with the optional Sigma APO teleconverter.

Lance H. from TORRANCE, CA:
Tested on: Sony A77. Compared to: SAL70300G. Overall impression: Extraordinary budget wildlife lens in the 500mm class. It's a keeper.
Very good optics
Built in lens OS
Very sharp, even wide open
Bokeh is satisfyingly smooth. Highlight bokeh is a bit busy/onion-y
Haven't run into any CA or flares yet.
The compromises to bring the price down:
f5-6.3 so it's mainly for bright sunny days.
No focus limiter.
HSM focus is slow
The lens OS seems to work very very well, maybe even better than SSS, but takes a second to kick in.
At 4.2 lbs with an 86mm filter, it's a heavy monster of a lens. After 2-3 hours it becomes harder for me to hold it steady
