Samy's Camera HDSLR Video Contest

The newest wave of image capture to hit the market is HDSLR video. This is an exciting time for Image Makers and Samy’s Camera wants to challenge you to make a short film using HDSLR cameras.

Here’s the lowdown:

• Must be shot on an HDSLR camera
• Entries must be between 3 and 5 minutes and edited
• Entries must be post marked by March 31th, 2010. - photo contest date is extended

Entries will be posted on www.SmugMug.com and open voting will begin on April 3rd and end on April 12th. The 6 entries with the most votes will go to our special guest panel where they will pick the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Our highly esteemed panel includes:

• Shane Hurlbut, ASC – Cinematographer
• Alexx Henry – Samy’s February Photographer of the Month
• Frank Rohmer – Editor and Owner of Rohmer Video Productions

We will screen the 6 finalist’s films and announce the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners at a date and time TBA. The prize packages are 1st place winner will receives a Canon 5D Mark II. 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place winners will receive one year with Smugmug.com. More prizes to be announced soon!!

And as a big treat that evening, Shane Hurlbut will be speaking about how he has utilized this new medium into his shooting. Shane is the Cinematographer of the films: We are Marshall, The Reckoning, Semi-Pro, Swing Vote, and Terminator Salvation, among others – including some amazing up-coming films where he is using this new HDSLR medium! There will also be time to mingle, meet vendors, and our esteemed judges.
