Pro Results Using Battery-Powered Strobes and Reflector with David Mecey![]() Date: Sat, Nov 28th and Sun, Nov 29th (Each day is the same workshop). We all like to be able to shoot fast, be able to move quickly to new locations, while still producing gorgeous light on our subjects. Some of the best methods of accomplishing this are by using lightweight, yet powerful portable strobes, while combining those with a sturdy reflector(s). For me, I’ve grown to really love working with self-contained battery-pack strobe units, due to their portability, ease of set-up, power, and longevity. The Broncolor A2 and A4 portable strobes are those packs. Combine them with what I feel is the absolute best reflector on the market today, the California Sunbounce, and you have a system that will allow you to shoot professional quality images just about anywhere, anytime. We will show you a number of ways to best utilize these work-horse strobes by combining them with the Broncolor Ringflash, as well, also showing you how a reflector or two themselves can become the only lighting gear you might need to fulfill a job. Shooting on location has always been my strength, which is being able to use the location as much for lighting as well as composition. Let me share all of that with you. With a gorgeous model, professional makeup/hair, a wardrobe stylist, and my talented assistants, we will show you a number of methods in how to shoot wonderful pictures while on location. As a bonus, and through the graciousness of Samy’s and our various sponsors, we will also host a raffle of incredible gifts at the end of our seminar. Bio: David began working for Playboy magazine in the fall of 1979, soon after becoming a staff photographer, moving to Chicago. In 1987, he would take a title change to Contributing Photographer where he would continue with Playboy until 2002. During this period he would begin to expand on his photography style to include fashion, beauty, and celebrity work for various editorial and advertising assignments worldwide. In 2001, David founded, David Mecey’s, FotoFantasyCamp®, www.fotofantasycamp.com, a workshop that has grown to become one of the premier photographic workshops in the world. Featured in American PHOTO, David brings a select number of photographers together to a fantastic location for four days of intensive training in his style of lighting, posing, rapport with models, literally everything that makes up professional-level photography. In addition to his continued catalog and beauty photography, David has self-published a number of books on his work. One, shot all in B&W, titled Passion, is a collection of nudes shot over the past several years. David’s books can be found at www.blurb.com, in their online bookstore. There is a gallery of his work on display at the German GQ magazine website, as well as MenSTYLE-France magazine’s website, with galleries also planned for the French GQ website. In the fall of 2008, David was a guest speaker and program presenter at the international photographic trade show, Photokina, held in Cologne, Germany. |
