For 120 years Yosemite National Park has been one of America’s greatest National Parks, visited and photographed by millions of people the world over. Its iconic images, as captured by Ansel Adams, were essential to the environmental movement’s need to bring the issue to the very forefront of public attention and concern – contributing to the creation of the National Park System. Samy’s Camera, Manfrotto, Gitzo, and Canon are proud to host a photo workshop in the park with our team of highly experienced Photographers to guide you through capturing the magic of the Yosemite Valley. Days will be filled with photo walks where attendees will have amazing opportunities to learn techniques from our esteemed guides in a variety of spots throughout the park during various photographically opportune times of the day. In the evenings we will meet to discuss other aspects of Landscape Photography and to share in our experiences from the day’s adventures. Highlights of the weekend will include: Thursday evening meet & greet, Sunset and Sunrise photo ops, dinner at the historical and beautiful Ahwahnee Hotel, and a Sunday Morning Print Making breakfast where Canon will provide printers and print technicians to create a 13X19 print of your favorite image from the weekend to take home with you.

Accommodations: All meals (including the marvelous dinner at the Ahwahnee Hotel) and transportation daily to and from the hotel, as well as within the park, will be provided. Details of the special room rates and hotel booking contact info will be provided to attendees when they call to register for the workshop.

He has more than 35 years as a professional photographer and has been a long standing resident of Yosemite National Park and Mariposa County. For over 22 years, Dan has started many mornings by leading the “Yosemite Photo Workshops” as well as photographed over 2200 weddings in and around Yosemite.

Dan is experienced in all formats of photography, and can provide all services, including small and medium format film, and the latest in digital photography.

In addition, his landscape images can be found in most National Parks from Colorado to California on everything from calendars, key chains, coffee mugs, postcards, and just about any gift item found in the stores.

Dan has also recently been named the Official Photographer of the Yosemite Chapel.
“Now as I approach the 2500 mark in photographing weddings, I find, I still love weddings! Maybe even more now, as I am continually exploring new techniques. I feel privileged to be able to help couples create lasting memories of their special day.”

Jennifer Wu - Jennifer has been a professional photographer since 1992, specializing as a landscape and night photographer. She received a BA in Photography from California State University, Sacramento, where she previously taught photography courses. Jennifer was named by Canon USA to the elite group photographers, The Explorers of Light, a group comprised of the top professional photographers in the country.

Her images, featured in numerous magazines and books, have won a wide variety of prestigious awards. Whenever she is not on nature expeditions at some of the most beautiful locations in the world, she exhibits her images at nationally recognized galleries and art shows. She teaches photography workshops and courses for Sierra Club, Light Photographic Workshops, BetterPhoto, Canon U.S.A., and aFilm International Film Workshops Barcelona, Spain.

“I strive to create images that evoke a mood or a chord of recognition or even a sense of longing with the viewer. Some may sense tranquility and peacefulness or perhaps powerful and vivid qualities which lead the view to make discoveries, drawing them to the next images. These dramatic landscapes are at the edge of the light of night and day as I search for exquisite and unique places.”

Samy’s is also pleased to present contributing Photography Guides from within our family of employees who specialize in Landscape Photography:

Frank Schlegel – A large format film specialist with over thirty-five years experience in analogue photography practice. Frank has successfully embraced the digital photography age. Just as comfortable shooting with a 12x20 banquet camera as a Leica digilux.  Frank can demystify photographic conundrums such as lenses angle-of-view verses angle-of-coverage, or bit-depth verses mega pixels. His photographic oeuvre includes works in the documentary styles of Robert Frank, Walker Evans, Edward Weston, and William Eggelston.  When he gets out of the city Frank heads to Joshua Tree or Death Valley and in keeping with the tradition of landscape photography Frank can be found shooting with whatever camera he can get his hands on.  Take a close look at his work because some one you know has a Schlegel in their collection.  Check his website http://frank8x10.com for a sampling of his work.

Hernan Godoy – Hernan Godoy has been photographing nature and the landscape in California's Eastern Sierra for more than a decade and has been involved in the photographic industry for the past thirty years.  His photography has been used in ad campaigns in magazines such as Peterson’s Photographic and Photography Today for photo industry giants Kenko Optics, Agfa Film, and Toyo Optics. He honed his technical skills at Minolta where he was a Tech Rep for 5 years.  For the past several years this award-winning photographer has been leading workshops through the Eastern Sierras,  the San Juan Capistrano Mission, and other places of interest around Southern california.  Hernan truly enjoys cultivating the love of photography in those that attend his workshops and continues to nurture that passion well after the workshops are concluded.
